"Pieces of the Sky"
This collection regroups many of my recent paintings with others that I have created since 2000. In that year, I was painting in my Paris studio. At that time, I was dreaming of finding myself in the great outdoors, so I painted free-flying birds on a background of blue skies, both real and somewhat unreal.
In my studio in Uzès in Provence, in the middle of nature, I returned to this same theme. For me, though, the subject matter is abstract, without end, and with multiple interpretations. Such a theme allows me to use all of the colors in the rainbow and to adapt to a technique that suits me well—what I call "la peinture au chiffon".
This collection will be shown at Saint-Quentin La Poterie, a small village near Uzès, during the months of May and June 2007. I am going to sell the sky in small pieces!
